The yearly fires in Malibu have reinforced the need to be prepared for an emergency. Point Dume has been lucky so far but an earthquake, fire, or other major emergency could mean there will be no phones, computers, or assistance from State and City officials for up to seven days. We owe it to our families and our friends to be prepared. The purpose of this section is as follows:
- To provide up to date information on existing emergencies through this website and a communication network.
- To provide information on upcoming meetings and training that relate to emergency preparedness.
- To provide links that can be used by individuals to get prepared for an emergency.

CERT Training (Community Emergency Response Team):

Emergency Notification System:
The City of Malibu is implementing an Emergency Notification System (Reverse 911) or Connect-CTY service. This services allows authorized civic leaders to create and rapidly disseminate time-sensitive messages to every telephone number stored in the notification database. With the Connect-CTY service, authorized users can send thousands of messages in minutes. Only authorized officials are allowed access to the system. To see a list of all you need to do to prepare yourself for disaster, click here. Getting ready is not difficult and could help you and your family survive a serious disaster. Most experts agree that it is essential for you to be self-sufficient for 72 hours following a serious disaster.

Traffic Information Emergency Radio:
The City's traffic and emergency radio station, dedicated to provided local traffic and emergency information 24 hours a day, is now up and running.
WPTD, 1620 AM, will provide Malibu residernt with updates on road conditions, accidents, lane closures and other items of interest. During disaster situations, the broadcast will include information on local emergency shelter locations and other pertinent news briefs.
